This R&D provides resources on the Libertarian Party. The party recently chose former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson as its presidential nominee for the second consecutive election cycle and Johnson is hoping to acquire a sizable amount of votes from disaffected Republican and Democratic voters. The Libertarian Party has traditionally stood for free market ideas along with socially liberal ones toward gay rights and drug legalization. Johnson will try to acquire 15% support in public polls so that he can become the first independent candidate to appear in a presidential debate since Ross Perot, who managed the feat in 1992.
