Law enforcement is reporting that meth lab seizures are on the decline and stricter state laws on the purchase of ingredients that make meth have proven effective. However, Mexican drug cartels are stepping into the void and could undermine recent gains. According to the Associated Press, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) seized more than 11,000 meth labs last year.
