The 2010 Harvard National High School Invitational Forensic Tournament has concluded and Michael Barton of Regis High School in New York emerged victorious in one of the toughest fields of the season. As the elimination rounds progressed individuals in the top fifteen of the National Points Race such as points leader Dillon Huff, Aaron Lutkowitz (2nd), Steven Elliott (7th), Gabriela Barahona (11th), and Nathaniel Donahue (T13th) fell by the wayside to clear the way for a final round that featured two competitors from Ridge High School in New Jersey and Regis High School in New York. The round also featured two-time Montgomery Bell Academy Extemp Round Robin invitee Karen Zhou and Shahid Ahmed, who was a participant at this year’s Montgomery Bell Extemp Round Robin as well. Barton was a fifth place finisher at the Barkley Forum two weeks ago and this victory will earn him 100 points in the Extemp Central National Points Race.
