The final results from the Yale Invitational are in. In the final round, Curan Mehra of Scarsdale High School in New York defeated Nathaniel Donahue of Durham Academy in North Carolina to become the 2010 champion. Mehra’s victory marks the third time since 2006 that an extemper from Scarsdale High School has won the tournament. Donahue, last year’s third place finisher, has now finished second at the first two major national circuit events of the season.
Peter Vogel of Ridge High School in New Jersey, who was 32nd in last year’s National Points Race, placed third. Matt DeBari of Lake Highland Prep in Florida, who finished sixth at Wake Forest, made semi-finals and will add to his National Points Race total. Audrey Denis of the Berkeley Carroll School in New York, who was unranked last year, but finished tied for 22nd in the 2008-2009 National Points Race, earned points for making semi-finals. Other National Points Race notables such as Jared Odessky of Nova High School in Florida, Ben Constine of Yorktown High School in Virginia, and Emily Martin of Boone County High School in Kentucky failed to make elimination rounds.
