This R&D gives resources on President Obama’s proposed plan to allow for tolls on America’s interstate highway system. Tolls on the interstate system have not been allowed since the system was built under the Eisenhower administration in the 1950s. The justification for the idea is that gas tax revenues are down as Americans have shifted to more fuel efficient vehicles and more revenue is needed to replace America’s aging infrastructure. Opponents argue that it is another bad government tax scheme, will cause congestion during busy travel months, and that if taxes need to be raised to fund infrastructure, it is better to fund them through a gas tax increase.
The Obama administration proposing tolls on interstate highways. Good idea? Or are we picking up poor planning tab? http://t.co/PNwAvROBo0
