Oregon extemp results Archives

At the end of each week, Extemp Central will provide a listing of results from the various local circuits around the country. One of the things we would like to get back to is some more coverage of events taking place on the national circuit and locally, so this is a way for extempers to see what is going on elsewhere, as well as the college ranks.

This week we have results from Texas, Kentucky, and Oregon, as well as a few college tournaments.

2014 Oregon School Activities Association State Speech Tournament: Sharma Brings Another Championship to Westview; Five Qualify for the 2015 TOC

Westview High School returned to the winner’s circle at this year’s Oregon School Activities Association State Speech Tournament when Suyash Sharma edged McKinley Rodriguez of Lincoln High School by judges’ preference to capture the state title. Sharma’s victory is the first by a Westview extemper since Nima Ahmadi, an NFL finalist in International Extemp, won in 2008. Edward Szczepanski of Wilson High School palced third.

Underclassmen extempers dominated the final round, as five of the six earned automatic qualifications to next year’s Extemporaneous Speaking Tournament of Champions (TOC) at Northwestern University. Those who automatically qualified are indicated in italics below.

Here are the results from the 2011 Oregon State Activities Association State Tournament, held on April 21st-23rd at Western Oregon University. All of these finalists have earned automatic qualifications to next year’s Extemporaneous Speaking Tournament of Champions (TOC) at Northwestern University.

3rd: Troy Phillips (Roseburg High School)

TOC Qualifier Results: Robert D. Clark Invitational

Here are the results of the 2011 Robert D. Clark Invitational, held at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon on February 24th-25th. The tournament was a TOC qualifier and all finalists earned TOC bids. All finalists were from the state of Oregon. We appreciate the tournament putting its results online so that we could post them here.
